Q & A
Step-by-Step: Charging a G25 Battery After Adding Acid
1. Let the Battery Rest After Filling
After adding electrolyte (battery acid), let the battery sit for 20 to 60 minutes.
This allows the acid to fully absorb into the plates and begin the activation process.
2. Check and Top Up Electrolyte if Needed
Open the caps again and check electrolyte levels.
If needed, top off with battery acid (not distilled water at this stage).
3. Initial Charging (Priming Charge)
Use a 12V battery charger suitable for lead-acid batteries.
Recommended charge rate: Slow charge at 2 to 4 amps.
Charging time: Typically 12–24 hours depending on the battery's state.
4. Monitor During Charging
Check for:
Bubbling or gassing (normal, but shouldn’t be violent)
Heat (shouldn’t exceed 120°F / 49°C)
If it gets too hot, stop charging and let it cool down.
5. Final Steps
After charging, check electrolyte levels again and top off with distilled water if below the recommended level.
Seal the caps and clean any spilled acid.
