An Aircraft tied down outside or in a shadeport hanger has need for a control surface lock. Aircraft Development's control surface lock is 4.75" in diameter and manufactured from acrylic with polystyrene wear pads that will not damage the surface finish, chip, or absorb water. The control surface lock is painted DayGlo orange with a bright red remove before flight streamer. The control surface lock is equipped with a wing nut that makes it simple to attach to an aircraft and make adjustments to lock a specific control surface configuration. The control surface lock is ideal for securing ailerons, elevators and rudders. This lock has an advantage over other locks in that is has a grip range up to 4.75". This especially allows the locking of rudders on Cessna, Piper and other aircraft which have a thicker cross section where the vertical fin and rudder meet. Many of the Cessna aircraft have provisions for locking aileron and elevator from inside the cockpit, however, leaves the rudder unlocked. Some other aircraft can secure the aileron and elevator with their safely belts, however, this leaves the elevator in the full up position which is not desirable during a wind storm, plus it leaves the rudder unlocked.
