Chris Huskamp, owner and driver for Huskamp Motorsports Engineering of St. Louis, MO has been involved in a variety of motorsports and advanced aviation activities since 1991. While attending the Missouri University of Science & Technology, he was introduced to the Formula SAE project. Acting as the Team's materials engineering lead, sponsorship focal, and driver he participated in four national FSAE competitions. It was during this time that he was introduced to Wicks Aircraft and Motorsports as THE single aircraft parts supplier that was willing to educate customers about their products. After graduation in 1997 he went to work as a Materials and Processes Engineer at McDonnell Douglas's (and subsequently The Boeing Company's) Phantom Works organization which switched his focus from racecars to tactical aircraft and weapons systems. During his tenure at Boeing, he has been supported to programs like the AV8-B Harrier, F/A-18 Hornet, F-15E Eagle, C-17 Globemaster, Unmanned Combat Air Vehicles, and the new 787 Dreamliner. Outside of work, he continued to consult with ARCA, Toyota Atlantic, Formula SAE, and Sports Car Club of America club racing teams. In 2004 Chris was tapped to lead a direct manufacturing technology partnership between the Phantom Works and Renault Formula 1 Team. As an integral member of the rapid prototyping group at Enstone, UK, he shared in the back-to-back Formula 1 World and Driver's Championships during 2005/2006 with RF1 and driver Fernando Alonso. Building on his background, he supported the partnership by translating technologies and needs; such as advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), composites, opponent simulation, and of course rapid prototyping between aerospace and the high end of the racing sector for five years.As his F1 experience was wrapping up Chris joined Jack Walbran Racing and supported Mitchell Racing Services as the team's engineer in 2006. Engineering support is also provided to Price Machine, the manufacturer of the Scorpion F500 chassis used by the team. Chris jumped back in the seat of a Formula 500 racecar in August 2007, rekindling his passion for driving. Maintaining solid finishes and a reliable car for the season has rewarded Chris with a 2nd place finish in the SCCA Mid-Am Championship in 2008.Wicks Aircraft and Motorsports has been a key component within Huskamp Motorsports Engineering's efforts. The availability of high quality aerospace and motorsports components locally, coupled with a great staff that is exceptionally knowledgably about their products is a critical part of the Team's success! This includes the 1-2 finish for Jack Walbran and Chris Huskamp in the 2008 Midwest Division, and without any Mechanical DNF's for either driver in SCCA National races during the season.
