Wicks Aircraft Supply is proud to be a sponsor of the Mizzou Hydrogen Car Team. Sara Chimahusky, leader of the team came with several members to Highland to pick up some Kevlar 281 fabric which Wicks donated to them for this project. The team will be building a high-efficiency vehicle that uses hydrogen to fuel the vehicle. This vehicle will be the only one of its type in the Midwest and it will compete in the 3,600 mile Great Race from New York, New York to Vancouver British Columbia in the summer of 2008. The hydrogen fuel will be stored in a 5000 psig tank which will then regulate the pressure down to somewhere between 0 - 250 psig that feeds two 1.2Kw fuel cells. All parts of the fuel system will be electronically controlled and monitored to assure maximum efficiency. We are excited about this cutting edge technology project and the possibilities it brings and we wish the team the best of luck.
